Viewing Album: A Walk Through Derby

Album Info:
On October 4th and 5th 2008 I had the pleasure of riding with Jeff Jacobs on his track car, MEC M-1152. We started at MP1 in Searsport and ended up at MP105 in the Millinocket yard on the 1st day and reversed the trip the next day. This was the southern end of the old BAR (B&A to a Mainer) and now operated as part of the Montreal, Maine & Atlantic system. At noon on the 5th we stopped for lunch at MMAs Derby Shops, MP65.5 and were given an hour to nose around. With the shops at Northern Maine Jct scaled back Derby now conducts the lions share of work on the MMA car & locomotive fleet in Maine. I shot about 200 photos at Derby, a few high lights are shown here. If anyone is interested in the locomotives in the deal line I could post those as well, there were a dozen or so carrying Amtrak and CN livery. /DL

MoW & Storage at the north end of the yard. Straight ahead, going off into the woods is the old ROW for the BAR line to Greenville & Moosehead taken out of serivce in the 50s. The main line to the north swings off to the right on the other side of the string of box cars. /DL
