Album Info:Here are more than 60 photos that were taken by Mr. John Dziobko, Jr. Some of them are from duplicate 35mm color slides that I've purchased, while others are images from the William E. Burket Collection.

Better keep them oil caps filled, or else!

Prominent here are the Locomotive Ready Tracks associated with the Pennsylvania Railroad's 50-stall East Altoona Roundhouse. The westbound Ready Tracks are at the right; it's populated with a few live steam engines poised for their next assignments. The eastbound Ready Tracks are at the left; it's populated with nothing but fireless locomotives awaiting oblivion. Visible in the middle distance is Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. Description:  Dziobko. Here is a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 17 September 1955. It was published originally in his 2006 book entitled "The Pennsy In The 1950's: The Last Great Decade," page 95. Partial Caption: "L-1s #1747, with a Futura number plate and 90F75 tender, at Hollidaysburg, September 17, 1955." #1747 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during March of 1916 and retired in December of 1955 after 39 years of service.

All are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5854 was built in September of 1947. In this context, they're passing BANKS Tower with a passenger train heading to Harrisburg and points East.

All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9532 was constructed in September of 1948 and retired in December of 1963 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-B set is passing through the Station with a manifest freight out of Enola bound for Altoona and points West. ("PrrFan18n")

Prominent here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9834 and #9547. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9834 is an EFP-15 constructed in April of 1952. #9547 was built as an EH-15 in November of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in December of 1963. In this context, they're waiting for their next assignments while parked under Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. ("PrrFan18n")

Parked near the 17th Street Bridge is PRR engine #9766, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in January of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, renumbered "1467" in 1966, and retired in August of 1967.
