Description:  Here is the front cover of a five-page camera study entitled "Pennsy Steam Engines Will Be Sent To Museums." It was published originally on the July 1968 issue of "Railroad" magazine. Cover Caption:"Front cover this month, recalling bright memories of Pennsy steam, was made jointly by Michael A. Eagleson & Howard W. Serig." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6755 and #1737 (aka #3750). Both were built in Juniata and both are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. Engine #6755 is an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built as an M-1A during June of 1930 and rebuilt as an M-1B in April of 1944. Engine #1737 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built as number "3750" during March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and renumbered "3750" in 1973.

Description:  Here is page two of a five-page camera study entitled "Pennsy Steam Engines Will Be Sent To Museums." It was published originally in the July 1968 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 16. Top Left-Hand Photo Caption: "No. 7688 (H-10), one of three PRR 2-8-0's now at Northumberland, the others being 1187 (H-3) and 2846 (H-6sb)." Engine #7688 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Lima Locomotive Works in September of 1915. Top Right-Hand Photo Caption: "No. 94, a 4-wheel switcher, class A-5s, with 8-wheel tender." Engine #94 is an A-5S (0-4-0) switcher built in Juniata in January of 1917. Bottom Photo Caption: "Locos shown above are stored indoors, as are 2-8-2 No. 520 and 4-4-2 No. 460, the 'Lindbergh Special' engine." Engine #520 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1916 and retired in August of 1957. And engine #460 is an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata in August of 1914. All of these locomotives are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Neil some time ago shows." Engine #520 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1916 and retired in August of 1957. Bottom Photo Caption: "Much-modified front of No. 3750, which masquerades as 1737, the original K-4." Engine #1737 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata as number "3750" during March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and renumbered "3750" in 1973. Both of these locomotives are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

Engine #5741 is a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during November of 1924, retired in December of 1955, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. Bottom Photo, Revised Caption: "Historic 'Reuben Wells,' a century-old mountain-battler used on a grade in [Madison,] Indiana, will go to Indianapolis Children's Museum."

Top Left-Hand Photo, Partial Caption: "Atlantic type 460, class E-6s, drew the 'Lindbergh Special' on June 11, 1927, from Washington to Manhattan Transfer in just under 3 hours." Engine #460 is an E-6S (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata in August of 1914. Top Right-Hand Photo, Partial Caption: "K-4s No. 3750 wears identification of No. 1737, first loco of this famous 4-6-2 class. The original 1737 had been sent to Northumberland, but deteriorated so badly that she was scrapped." Engine #1737 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built as number "3750" in March of 1920, renumbered "1737" in 1956, and renumbered "3750" in 1973. Both of these locomotives are presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.

It was built by the Madison & Indiana Railroad during 1868, specifically for use on its 5.89% upgrade between Madison and North Madison, Indiana. It's named after its designer, Mr. Reuben Wells.

Looks to me like it's "Open House" at the Roundhouse!
