Baldwin built this massive 4-8-2 Mountain type loco in 4/1926 as SLSF #1521. The loco was rebuilt later to improve tractive effort. In January of 1949, it was leased to the T&NO. The loco was spotted in the dead line at the Springfield yard in May-July. Finally after nearly 26 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap in March of 1952. Original Specs - serial #58133, class T-54, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x28" cylinders, engine weight of 355,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,085 lb. No date was listed for this photo unfortunately so an approximate was used. No date was give for the loco. This is a C.C. Grayson photo. |
