Built by Baldwin in April of 1927 as part of the 20 loco "Presidential Series", B&O 4-6-2 #5309 had the honor of carrying the name of President Polk. The loco served the B&O for nearly 30 years before retirement in 1957 and eventually scrapped. Along the way, the loco was rebuilt in 1944 to the class P-7c with a solid steel engine bed and a feed-water heater. In 1956 before retirement, it was renumbered BO #107. Original specs - 80" drivers, impressive 230 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 326,000 lb, tractive effort of 50,000 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.
