BO 2-6-6-4 #7702 - Baltimore & Ohio |
Description: |
Unfortunately, the RRPA data base does not have an option for the 2-6-6-4 wheel config from Baldwin. This loco was built by Baldwin in 1934 as Seaboard Air Line #2502. It was then sold to the B&O in August of 1947 and renumbered BO 7702 as seen here later. The loco lasted only 6 more years on the roster before being sold for scrap in March of 1953. Specs - 69" drivers, impressive 230 psi boiler pressure, four sets of 22x30" cylinders, massive engine weight of 480,000 lb, tractive effort of 82,000 lb. No exact date or photographer was listed for the photo. |
