A rolling rust heap and two rent-a-wrecks squeal around the curve into Ideal, GA. All three of these units have been retired.

That "rolling rust heap" is right at home on that train...hauling pigs and stacks were what they were built to do for the Seaboard.

That middle locomotive was a true one of a kind. An SD50M-3, originally Dakota Minnesota & Eastern 5000, later a lease unit as MPEX 5000. It was made from a cabless ATSF SD45B, and a spare cab from Morrison Knudsen's MK5000C line. They made 7 cabs, but only assembled 6 units. The MK5000Cs had issues with their Caterpillar engines, and were rebuilt with EMD engines and renamed as the MK50-3. I very often see DME 5000/MPEX 5000 photos mislabeled as an MK50-3. It's correct type is SD50M-3
