16-single room/10-double-room sleeper 2004 was photographed leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal on the northbound PANAMA LIMITED. This car was built by Budd in June 1949 as New York Central 22-roomette car TOLEDO HARBOR, and was later assigned NYC number 10379. Budd rebuilt it into un-named SLUMBERCOACH 10816 in 1961; it was subsequently assigned Penn Central number 4206, and then became Amtrak 2004. It was rebuilt as HEP car 2055 in 1982, and regained its original name! (date approximate) |
