| Agnes. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 24 June 1972. Shown here near the 4th Street Footbridge are Penn Central engines #5451, #9944, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Although coupled to a fully-loaded mineral train, they're just sitting there with engines off pending the resumption of rail traffic in the wake of Hurricane Agnes. Note how rusty these once-highly-polished rails have become! |
