| Built by EMD in June of 1940, this sharp diesel was at its height of service in this photo pulling an impressive string of passenger cars heading to Chicago. Of the five E6A's that were delivered at the same time, only #630 remained on the Rock Island roster by 1974. Don't know the final dispostion for #628. The day in October of 1949 listed for this photo is approximate. No photographer listed unfortunately for this great action shot. The loco is new to this site. |
