All the poles were notched for 5 cross arms. I used to bring my family to East Outlet or Moosehead every summer back in the 80s. The Canadian Pacific ran 6 or 8 trains a day over this line through Maine which connected Ontario & Quebec to New Brunswick and the deep water port of Halifax, Nova Scota. There was a lot of container traffic over the line. I even got up one summer night around 1 am and watched the eastbound Atlantic Limited rush through.Them were the good ole days. That traffic tapered off in the 90s and was moved over CN passing north of Maine through Quebec and New Brunswick. In the 80s this line had block signals one of which was just beyond the switch in this track scene. The pole line was well maintained and kept clear. Blowdowns today rule the old signal infrastructure and are taking their toll... /DL |
