The UP tracks, and a small stream--creek, actually--are out of sight to the right but last summer, after nearly record-setting rainfall for mid-Missouri, you can see how far the water rose. The various "shades" of mud on the sign show how the water eventually receded during a very warm summer last year. This sign was easily six feet above the ground so that gives you an idea how much water had come to town! |
