Portraits 6. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via F.R. Kern. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9628, an L-2S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the American Locomotive Company as G.R. & I. number "109" during March of 1919, renumbered "9628" in 1921, and retired in March of 1948 after 29 years of faithful service. It was designed by the United States Railroad Administration during the height of World War I. The exact date and the location are not recorded. (#31 of 43) |
