PRR 1737, K-4S, #1 of 3, c. 1957
Here is the first of three original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1737, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata as number "1737" during May of 1914, renumbered "3750" in 1956, and retired in February of 1960 after 46 years of faithful service. This is the original K-4S. Note that the generator has been removed before the locomotive is sent to the Recycling Center.
