| An unknown photographer caught this St Louis-San Francisco 4-6-4 Hudson #1069 as it sat in a Kansas City, MO. The SLSF West Springfield Shops did a Herculean job of rebuilding older 1917 Baldwin 4-6-2 Pacifics into these more powerful 4-6-4 Hudsons between 1937-40. Unfortunately, SLSF #1065 didn't serve long as it was scrapped in February of 1951. Hudson.specs - serial #45701, 74" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine weight of 360,960 lb, tractive effort of 48,919 lb. No date was given for the photo so an approximate was used. |
