| Norfolk Southern units lead a BNSF Z-train west between Ludlow and Newberry Springs. The train is led by 4125 and 4257, both AC44C6Ms. Thse units were originally built by GE as C40-9Ws in the mid 1990s, before being rebuilt to 4400 horsepower in the mid 2000s, effectively making them C44-9Ws. These units were again rebuilt in the late 2010s with AC traction motors. The 4125 was rebuilt by NS at Juniata, while the 4257 was rebuilt by GE in Fort Worth. |
