DMIR 0-10-0 #93
One of the rarest switchers is this Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Rwy built by Baldwin in December of 1927 as Duluth, Missabe & Northern #93 (serial #60294, class S6). The DMN #93 slid over to the DMIR roster in 1938 and 20 years later, this rare 0-10-0 switcher was scrapped. Unfortunately, the RRPA database doesn't even list a wheel configuration of 0-10-0 anywhere so no config or builder was selected. Specs - 57" drivers, impressive 245 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 352,250 lb, impressive tractive effort of 77,600 lb, fitted with Franklin tender booster. The photo comes from the Howard Ameling collection.
