The loco itself has led a life much like a mythical phoenix, arising from ashes for a new life. It served the Southern Pacific unitl retirement in 1956 and donated for a static display in Portland, OR. It was resurrected and restored for the American Freedom Train in 1976. It eventually ended back in storage only to be reborn in the 1980's for fan trips like this one. An unknown rail fan took the color slide. |
