CNJ 2-8-0C #559 - Central RR of New Jersey         
This is the original sepia colored photo taken by K.E. Schlechler in 1931. I converted it into a b&w photo also in this album. Built by Alco-Brooks in November of 1905 originally as CNJ 4-4-0C #852 but was renumbered in July of 1918 to CNJ #559 seen in this photo. In December of 1919, the loco was superheated and reclassified as D9s. After nearly 29 years of service, the loco was scrapped at the Elizabethport Shops in December of 1934. Original specs - D9, class, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 19x26" cylinders, engine wt of 161,300 lb, tractive effort of 23,125 lb. The photo was taken by K.E. Schlechler.
