Electric Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken just to the West of Pennsylvania Station in New York City, New York, c. 1967. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4921, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during July of 1942 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. In this context, it's just emerged from one of the Hudson River Tunnels with another "Clocker" and is about to enter the Station proper. Partially visible at the far left is an unidentified New Haven Railroad EP-5 electric locomotive; at the far right are a couple of Long Island Rail Road electrified commuter cars. |
