Description:  Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) of a photo by Frank Tatnall that was taken in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, c. 1961. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5787 and two "BF" Class B-units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #5787 was constructed as a BP-20 rated at 2,000 horsepower in December of 1948, later regeared and reclassified as a BF-16Z rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. They're about to pass through the Huntingdon Passenger Station with a manifest freight train bound for Conway.

Description:  Oil Power. Here is an original photo that I took near Cresson, Pennsylvania, during April of 1962. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8666 and #8661. Both are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. They are pulling a string of loaded hopper cars toward Cresson, where they will merge with the mainline and proceed down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to the Eastbound Receiving Yards in Altoona. Photo taken from a moving automobile at a place where the Irvona Branch parallels US Route 22 (Admiral Peary Highway), just West of Cresson.
