DMIR 2-8-8-4 #232 - duluth, Missabee & Iron Range         
Duluth, Missabee & iron Range 2-8-8-4 #232 was one of the massive Yellowstone type steam locomtoives that could handle the long drags of iron ore cars with grace and power. History - Baldwin, 1/1943 serial #64711 After nearly 19 years of service, the massive loco was sold for scrap in 1962. Specs - M4 class, 63" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 699,700 lb, impressive tractive effort of 140,000 lb. There was no date, location or photographer listed for this photo so an approximate date and location were used.
